But I went  to the military base the other day, so I popped in to the American grocery store, which I am thankful for, however I don’t buy vegetables there normally. They ship vegetables from all over the world, when they could simply just get them in Italy! So instead, you get vegetables that aren’t fresh. In fact, often they go bad within a day or two and you’ve paid twice the price! That point being made, I knew I needed to use them up quickly —>

Bone Broth Recipe

fullsizerenderWhy should you be making and consuming bone broth? Homemade broth is packed full of nutrients and amino acids that help support joint and intestinal health. And we all know by now that good health starts in the gut, right? If you didn’t, now you do. Google that shit, it really is fascinating. Broth is the foundation of a great soup too! But my favorite? Just warm up a coffee mug of broth and drink. So soothing and warming, I can’t get enough. It is an absolute superfood. You can find many websites touting the amazing properties of bone broth, just google it! —>

Egg Muffins

fullsizerender-2One of the easiest things you can make for breakfast during your meal prep days, are Egg Muffins! Quick and portable these babies are delicious and good for when you’re in a pinch, but don’t want to sacrifice nutrition! They can also be used for individual snacks! Super simple and one of my go-to’s when I don’t feel like making a large breakfast.

The hubster had these after rugby practice today and LOVED them. So I thought I’d share this version. There are so many different recipes out there with different veggies you can throw in to change up your recipe! This is our favorite so far. But it is nice to change it up every once in a while. Simple & Easy Balanced Omelette

fullsizerender-3We eat a lot of eggs in this household. But I have to say, although I know how amazingly nutritious they are, I don’t LOVE to eat eggs. But I do love the nutrient impact they punch. They are simple, quick ways to get protein and lots of nutritents.  Still on the fence about eating the whole egg? Check out the book Eat The Yolks by Liz Wolfe. Not only is it a digestable read, but her writing style is comical and enjoyable!

I do meal prep a couple days a week. I prep breakfast for myself and my husband so that I don’t have to spend the time each morning, because lets face it, it is so EASY to skip breakfast. I just want to hit the gym and get my day going. Having food readily available, and properly balanced allows me to do just that.  —>

Cabbage with Apple & Onion Warm Salad

IMG_1320 2.jpgThis recipe is my new jam! Not a fan of cabbage? Don’t know what to do with cabbage? Try this recipe! It’s sweet and savory and it is so easy to make, especially after a long day. It also keeps well for meal prep. My husband loves sauerkraut. I mean LOVES it. I have discovered I like it as well after devouring it each time we visit Germany. The problem is I haven’t been able to recreate that perfect German sauerkraut. So until I find the perfect way to make it, this is a close substitute. We have been eating this every day lately. Ginger & Lemon Morning Health Kick Shot

img_1359A few years ago I was visiting my brother and his wife in San Fransisco. One of my favorite things that I took away from that trip,  other than just great memories, is this amazing little lemon juice & ginger shot that they made every morning! This shot isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s spicy and definitely wakes you up! Especially if you’re brave and add a pinch of Cayanne Pepper like I do. —>

Rest Day

With the big holiday over it was time to get back to work! I am feeling the sugar addiction big time haha, but let me tell you I have enjoyed every minute of every sweet! I had a slow start with motivation today, but I did do work. —>

Early Morning Vibes

The pervasive aching of my hips woke me early this morning. You were there to greet me in our Tuscan sun soft room with your little movements. Cocooned in your fathers arms I lay paralyzed with love. For someone who was certain that pregnancy wasn’t for her, and the thought of having something move around in her belly would feel awful, I cannot help but smile because I know already, that I will miss the feeling. I am sometimes overwhelmed by the connection I have with you. You ground me. Your impressive strength is soothing to me as you wiggle and stretch. Not much longer and the world is yours to do with what you wish, to move freely in its space.

[Im]Perfection During Pregnancy

img_9644To say I am a perfectionist is an understatement. For whatever reason, I have always put a lot of pressure on myself to perform. Dance monkey, dance! Not always the healthiest approach to things, but it motivated me to complete whatever the task at hand was. There is a downside to this approach as well. One that I am discovering more and more, is holding me back more than motivating me.
