Our First Month with Red

fullsizeoutput_2ea2What a rollercoaster it has been! If you haven’t already read Redfield’s birth story, you can find it here. Things have been a bit crazy since bringing Red home from the hospital, to say the least. There hasn’t been much time to process everything, until now. Today Red is four weeks old! We are home enjoying the sunny Spring weather. But it took a lot to get to this day. Allow me to get you caught up. —>

I Met You In My Dreams

36 Weeks Pregnant

“You have your fathers face. That is all I could think as you were handed to me. Tears were streaming down my face as if I had never experienced so much love in one moment. All at once I was surrounded by your energy. Your presence. Figures moved swiftly yet, quietly around me, but I couldn’t see them clearly in my periphery. My attention was solely focused on you. —>

Rest Day

Tuesday, December 27th 2016

With the big holiday over it was time to get back to work! I am feeling the sugar addiction big time haha, but let me tell you I have enjoyed every minute of every sweet! I had a slow start with motivation today, but I did do work. —>

Early Morning Vibes

The pervasive aching of my hips woke me early this morning. You were there to greet me in our Tuscan sun soft room with your little movements. Cocooned in your fathers arms I lay paralyzed with love. For someone who was certain that pregnancy wasn’t for her, and the thought of having something move around in her belly would feel awful, I cannot help but smile because I know already, that I will miss the feeling. I am sometimes overwhelmed by the connection I have with you. You ground me. Your impressive strength is soothing to me as you wiggle and stretch. Not much longer and the world is yours to do with what you wish, to move freely in its space.

Content and yet anxiously waiting,

Mom

[Im]Perfection During Pregnancy

img_9644To say I am a perfectionist is an understatement. For whatever reason, I have always put a lot of pressure on myself to perform. Dance monkey, dance! Not always the healthiest approach to things, but it motivated me to complete whatever the task at hand was. There is a downside to this approach as well. One that I am discovering more and more, is holding me back more than motivating me.

As I reflect on my pregnancy so far, it is interesting to note, —>

31 Weeks Pregnant

Happy Holidays to you! It has been quite the week! My energy levels have been pretty low. Sleep eludes me at night. During the day I feel like I could nap for hours. Needless to say this is throwing off my To-Do list immensely. I did manage to get some workouts in, however!

Monday, December 19th 2016

Slow start today but I did eventually get down to the gym! I managed to break the chain on my bike so I had to improvise for a warm up. —>

Blueberry Muffins & an Italian Treat

fullsizeoutput_2cb8
I woke early this morning to receive a furniture delivery for my neighbors, who are back in the states for the holidays. Apparently I didn’t get up early enough, because the one time in the world that an Italian is not only on time, but early, happened today! When we lived in Spain deliveries, meals, guests or anything that you wanted on some sort of schedule would be scheduled with a time, but not a day. So be home at 10am every day until it is convenient for them to deliver/appear! This too happens in Italy, although typically you get the day you’re looking for, but things run at a slower pace. I have to remember that a break for espresso, three to ten times per day, is typical for Italians. I am serious.  3-10 espresso a day. However these guys must have stopped for their fix early because I didn’t even get my hair brushed and the shutters open before our buzzer rang at 745am! Oh well, up and at ’em. —>

Today the little Squisher and I are headed to Germany to spend some time with the hubster who is there for work! I was planning on flying out tomorrow morning early, but my flight was cancelled. The only other flight offered was today. Needless to say, there wasn’t time to fit in a workout as I had to rush home, pack and get to the airport! —>
