One of my favorite cooking fats to use is bacon fat. Now, I am not obsessed with bacon, nor do I eat it ALL the time like some Paleo lovers. But I do save the bacon fat in a mug and store it in the fridge. You know, just like great grandma used to do. It can add a ton of flavor to make even the pickiest of eaters enjoy their vegetables! And before you go ballistic on me about saturated fat content, you better do your research first! Let’s try and debunk that myth, shall we?

I bought a ton of veggies the other day. Typically I walk to a local vendor near my house here in Italy. But I went to the military base the other day, so I popped in to the American grocery store, which I am thankful for, however I don’t buy vegetables there normally. They ship vegetables from all over the world, when they could simply just get them in Italy! So instead, you get vegetables that aren’t fresh. In fact, often they go bad within a day or two and you’ve paid twice the price! That point being made, I knew I needed to use them up quickly —>
Why should you be making and consuming bone broth? Homemade broth is packed full of nutrients and amino acids that help support joint and intestinal health. And we all know by now that good health starts in the gut, right? If you didn’t, now you do. Google that shit, it really is fascinating. Broth is the foundation of a great soup too! But my favorite? Just warm up a coffee mug of broth and drink. So soothing and warming, I can’t get enough. It is an absolute superfood. One of the easiest things you can make for breakfast during your meal prep days, are Egg Muffins! Quick and portable these babies are delicious and good for when you’re in a pinch, but don’t want to sacrifice nutrition! They can also be used for individual snacks! Super simple and one of my go-to’s when I don’t feel like making a large breakfast.

I do meal prep a couple days a week. I prep breakfast for myself and my husband so that I don’t have to spend the time each morning, because lets face it, it is so EASY to skip breakfast. I just want to hit the gym and get my day going. Having food readily available, and properly balanced allows me to do just that. —>
A few years ago I was visiting my brother and his wife in San Fransisco. One of my favorite things that I took away from that trip, other than just great memories, is this amazing little lemon juice & ginger shot that they made every morning! I love making and eating gingerbread cookies! You have no idea. So it is very important for me to make sure I have people to give them away to when I make a batch! Yesterday was Christmas Eve and knowing that my husband, among many other military badasses would be giving up their Christmas Day to support our country, I couldn’t let that happen without a little holiday cheer. Happy Holidays to you! I hope that you’re celebrating with family and friends! We woke up on this Christmas morning with some motivation to get things done! The hubster had to work, yes, on Christmas. While this isn’t a new concept for me, it is important to remember that not everyone has their family around them during the Holidays. I am a fan of potatoes. In fact, I LOVE them. I crave them often. However, I do limit my intake of those delicious little guys for a few reasons; Potatoes have a high glycemic index, meaning they raise your blood sugar more quickly than say, sweet potatoes. To me, this is only an issue if you’re eating these baby in excess. —>
